Services Provided
The staff of First Steps Pediatrics is available to provide your child with the very best care
possible. To help provide timely service to our patients, we prefer to schedule visits. We are not
able to accommodate walk in appointments. Out of courtesy for our patients,
if you are more
than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule your
appointment.

Office Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (closed for lunch 12:15-1pm)
Friday 8:00 am 12:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday and all major holidays.

Sick Child Visits - Our physicians and nurse practitioners are very skillful in the
management of a wide array of pediatric illnesses. We make every effort to schedule
appointments for ill children on the day that you call us. Please call our office ahead of time,
early morning if possible, so that we can minimize the time you will spend waiting. If you have a
medical emergency during office hours, we will do our very best to see your child immediately or
refer you to the appropriate facility for care.

Well Child Visits - To keep your children healthy, it is very important to bring them in for
regular well child checkups. These visits will address your child’s growth, behavior, and
development and also inform you of what is to be expected. Immunizations and various health
screening are routinely done at these visits. An updated shot record is required in order for us
to administer immunizations to your child. Well child visits may take a little longer than a sick
child visit. We recommend that you call at least 4-6 weeks in advance to schedule these
appointments so you may choose the date and time that best fits your needs.

After Hours Care - If your child is ill and you need to reach our office after hours, call our
main number at (850) 478-1244 and the answering service will connect you with a nurse on call
for our office. If the on call nurse is unable to assist you, she or he will contact the physician on
call for our office and she will return your call. If you do not receive a call back within 1 hour, have
the physician paged again. Please do not ask the on call physician to call in any antibiotics or
routine medications that are not urgently needed or to discuss issues that are routinely
addressed at a well child visit. If the physician on call feels like your child needs to be seen in
the ER, take your child to Sacred Heart Hospital Pediatric ER for evaluation right away. We
also encourage our parents to visit the Sacred Heart Pediatric After Hours Clinic in Pace for
acute illnesses when our office is closed: Address: 4435 Hwy 90, Pace, Fl, Phone: 850-416-
5205, Hours: Monday - Friday, 5 p.m.- 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 12 pm - 10 p.m.
